How bloodborne pathogens are transmitted in the workplace
If your employees can reasonably expect to come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials on the job, OSHA requires you to provide Bloodborne Pathogens training — and to repeat it every year. OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) — enforced in Michigan by MIOSHA — applies to any workplace where employees have a reasonable expectation of occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. That is a much wider net than most employers assume.
